Anguillian-born Chef Aaron Gumbs brings the same discipline and no-limits mindset he embraced as a high school high jump champion to the kitchen. He subscribes to the mantra that, "pressure bursts pipes, but also creates diamonds."
Gumbs first pursued culinary arts at Albena-Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, where he received top awards for best beverage and main entreé. After graduating with honors from London's Westminster Kingsway College with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Culinary Arts and Business Management in 2021, Gumbs interned with acclaimed Head Chef Kerth Gumbs at one of the city's top-5 fine dining restaurants, Ormer Mayfair. Within just two years, he was promoted to Apprentice Chef to the Chef de Partie where he continued to sharpen his skills and expand his creativity. He later transitioned to Kosher restaurant, Tish, also in London, progressing to the role of Sous Chef.
Gumbs had the opportunity to return to his roots in Anguilla, and is now a Sous Chef at Four Seasons Anguilla.
Gumbs enjoys exploring and testing the limits of how foods are meant to be paired, as well as creating new dishes and coming up with innovative ways to transform recipes using a variety of flavors and cuisines.
You can watch Gumbs compete in the Anguilla Culinary Experience Basket Battle on Saturday, May 6th at the Anguilla Great House.
