Bernel Richardson, a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in the tourism sector of hospitality, has established himself as a distinguished figure in the world of sommeliers. Bernel is currently the Head Sommelier at Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club. His journey is a testament to a lifelong commitment to the art and science of wine, creating unforgettable experiences for enthusiasts and novices alike.

Commencing his journey in 1999 at Malliouhana Hotel, Bernel served as a wine steward, managing the intricacies of the wine cellar, restaurants, and bars. His passion and dedication propelled him to the position of assistant sommelier before embarking on a new chapter in 2006.

Venturing into a role at the CuisinArt Resort & Spa from 2006 to 2009, Bernel graced Santorini restaurant with his expertise. Conducting the popular wine class, “Introduction to Wine,” twice a week, he left an indelible mark.

From 2009 to 2013, Bernel’s journey led him to da’Vida restaurant, where he seamlessly transitioned from bartender to Sommelier, Restaurant Manager, and finally, Operations Manager. His meticulously curated wine list at da’Vida garnered the prestigious Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator.

Returning to CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa in 2013 as a supervisor of food and beverage, Bernel’s leadership was recognized with the Outstanding Supervision award in 2014. His ascent continued in 2015 when he assumed the role of Head Sommelier, overseeing the wine cellar and all wine lists on the property. Under his stewardship, the wine list at Le Bistro At Santorini achieved the esteemed Best Of Award Of Excellence in 2016, 2017, and 2019.

A connoisseur with a global perspective, Bernel has been exploring the wine regions of California since 2003, venturing into Washington State, Oregon, and the Finger Lakes wine country of New York State. In 2016, he achieved a significant milestone by completing his first level of the Court of Master Sommeliers.
