Born and raised in Guyana, Chef John moved to Anguilla as a child and discovered his passion for cooking. After studying hotel management and trade, he spent some time away from the industry but realized he couldn't walk away from cooking. Chef John began his career in 2012 as a Chef at Valley Bistro, where he developed skills in French and Italian cuisines. In 2017 he began working at Tokyo Bay at Aurora Anguilla (previously CuisinArt), where he mentored under Chef Joe Richardson and learned classical sushi techniques. In 2018, Chef John worked for two years as the Head Chef at The Manoah Boutique Hotel leading the day-today operations. In 2020, Chef John joined Four Seasons, where he was responsible for all butchery production for the property's fine dining restaurant, Salt.
Chef John returned to Aurora Anguilla in 2021 and began what he describes as the most significant part of his career so far as the Villa Sous Chef and quickly became an integral part of the team. He now runs all villa operations, events, and the beachside restaurant, Eventide, where he serves classic Anguillian/Caribbean-style BBQ dishes.
Chef John feels privileged to be part of the Aurora team and has spent the last two years working alongside some of the greatest chefs in Anguilla. He looks forward to continuing his work with them for many years to come, following his passion for cooking and ensuring guests have the best possible experience at Aurora.
