Anguilla native Chef Dale Carty learned traditional Anguilla cooking as a boy alongside his Grandma before working his way up at Anguilla’s Malliouhana.
Impressed with Carty’s talents, Malliouhana’s visiting chef Michel Rostang invited the then 16-year old to train at Rostang’s father Jo’s restaurant, La Bonne Auberge in the South of France and then at his own 2 Michelin-starred Maison Rostang in Paris. It was Carty’s first time on an airplane. (Ask Carty about his first attempt to make mashed potatoes worthy of Rostang.)
Carty brought his experience and French techniques back to Anguilla where he opened his popular Caribbean restaurant, Tasty’s. There Carty offers a menu rooted in tradition but internationally influenced. His marinated conch salad and coconut crusted fish are favorites.
In 2022, Carty reimagined Tasty’s with the addition of a scenic dining outdoor patio. At Tasty’s Point of View (POV), diners can enjoy delicious cocktails and his famous expert barbeque with a beautiful view. He is preparing to launch a new take-away deli addition.
An alumni of Anguilla’s National Culinary Team, Carty has won numerous awards and is frequently lauded for his skills in culinary and travel magazines. He says the secret is in the special sauces and seasonings.
