Orozco Mofford is a bartender at Anguilla’s top-rated Sharky’s Restaurant on the West End. He realized bartending was his destination in 2018 when he had the opportunity to be trained to fill in for the main bartender going on vacation.
He headed to Turks and Caicos where he completed a formal bartending course and honed his skills on the job at Bar Code Pub, Prestige Bar and Restaurant and Beaches Turks and Caicos Island.
Always willing to put in the extra effort, Mofford worked as a waiter at night and a data entry clerk at Lands and Surveys SVG by day. After being promoted to floor supervisor, he realized mixology was his calling and he ventured forth to become a full-time bartender at Sharky’s. Mofford continues to explore ways to learn and enhance his skills as a professional bartender and mixologist.
Mofford believes that a good drink depends on the right measurements. His favorite cocktail to compose is gin base mixtures and bourbon “Perfect Old Fashion.” He loves being creative with liquids while communicating with his guests and sharing his understanding of the local way of life and culture.
When guests enjoy his drinks, he wants them to savor, “the taste of every ingredient that is in each cocktail I make, that refreshing flavor and the buzz driving through the nerves.”
