Muhammad Isa Baptiste is the Chef Proprietor of D’ BBQ HUT, Anguilla. Although he has only been involved in the culinary industry professionally for four years, his passion for food and hospitality began long before that.
Growing up in a family involved in food establishments around the world, Baptiste was raised with a deep appreciation for the culinary arts and serving people. Recognizing Anguilla’s strong barbeque culture, he sought to introduce a different style of barbeque and unique flavors based on his roots in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2022 he opened D’ BBQ Hut where he has quickly earned a following for his unique, slow method of preparing meats that are tender and rich in flavor and seasoning.
Baptiste finds fulfillment in bringing people together through food, and creating experiences that leave lasting memories for both locals and visitors alike. He feels that, “food can express culture, identity, and passion in ways that words alone cannot fully describe.”
As a self-titled, “simple cook from a small island,” Baptiste is looking forward to participating in ACE for the first time this year, and to contributing to the rich and diverse culinary identity that makes Anguilla so special.
