Karan Kumar started his career in Anguilla at the age of 16 as an assistant at his chef father’s Koal Keel Restaurant. Koal Keel specialized in Indian cuisine and was one of the island’s top fine-dining establishments. Inspired by his father’s unique approach to cuisine, Kumar took advantage of every opportunity presented to him at the restaurant, honing his skills and learning from the experienced elder chefs. After rising to Sous Chef, Karan brought his talents to Da’Vida at Crocus Bay, where he was later named Senior Sous Chef. In 2018, upscale ÀNI Anguilla recruited him to join their culinary team and named him Head Chef in 2022.
Highly-skilled in both Patisserie and Culinary, Kumar holds a Certificate in Food and Beverage Management from the Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan, Italy and a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management. In addition to providing exceptional cuisine for guests, Kumar loves sharing his passion and knowledge of the culinary arts training rising chefs.
Kumar will be taking on his fellow Anguilla National Culinary Team members in the ACE Basket Battle competition.
